George Ivan Morrison and Margaret Morrison had Van Morrison on August 31, 1945, in Bloomfield, Belfast, Northern Ireland. Violet, his mother, was a tap dancer and singer, and George, his father, was an electrician in a shipyard. Van went to Elmgrove Primary School.
