A temporary court order made on Monday says that Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas will keep their two young children in New York for the time being. After four years of marriage, the two stars are getting a divorce.
Last week, Turner sued Jonasand asked for their children to be sent back to London. But CNN got a document filed in New York that shows the "Game of Thrones" actress and the Jonas Brothers singer have made a temporary deal to keep their girls, who will be born in 2020 and 2022, in the United States. The documents say:
The parties have agreed to the entry of the attached proposed Interim Consent Order, without prejudice to either party’s claims and defenses, prohibiting the removal of the parties' children from the jurisdictions of the United States District Courts for the Southern & Eastern Districts of New York pending further order of this Court.- Turner's lawsuit against Jonas
Turner wrote in her plea from last week that the now-divorced couple had tried for a year to find their "forever home" in England and that they had both agreed to move there before the marriage ended.
Turner said in her plea for their kids to go back to England that she and Jonas met on or around September 17 and talked about a plan for their kids to go back that week. Turner also said that Jonas wouldn't give the kids' papers to her.
Last week, multiple outlets got a comment from a spokesperson for Jonas about the petition. The statement said,
Joe and Sophie had a cordial meeting this past Sunday in New York, when Sophie came to New York to be with the kids. They have been with her since that meeting. Joe’s impression of the meeting was that they had reached an understanding that they would work together towards an amicable co-parenting setup.- Joe Jonas representative
Less than 24 hours later, Sophie advised that she wanted to take the children permanently to the UK. Thereafter, she demanded via this filing that Joe hand over the children’s passports so that she could take them out of the country immediately. If he complies, Joe will be in violation of the Florida Court order.- Joe Jonas representative
Jonas asked for a divorce on September 5, saying in his plea that "the marriage between the parties is irretrievably broken." Turner said in her custody filing that he caught her by surprise and that she found out about his file from the news. Jonas's rep told several news sites that this was not true.
Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner first crossed paths in early 2016, but their initial meeting details remained private. However, they didn't make their relationship public until much later.
Dating rumors started swirling when they were spotted together at a Halloween party in Los Angeles. While they hadn't confirmed their relationship at this point, the media and fans began speculating about their romantic involvement.
Joe and Sophie made their relationship Instagram official in November 2016 when they both posted a picture of themselves in matching Halloween costumes, confirming their status as a couple.
The couple further solidified their relationship when they took a romantic trip to Paris together. Paparazzi photos of them strolling through the City of Love only fueled the public's interest.
Joe Jonas popped the question to Sophie Turner with a stunning engagement ring. They both shared the exciting news on Instagram, and their fans showered them with congratulations and well-wishes.
In a surprise move, Joe and Sophie tied the knot in a spontaneous Las Vegas wedding ceremony following the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. The ceremony was officiated by an Elvis impersonator and attended by close friends and family.
Although they had their Vegas wedding, Joe and Sophie decided to have a more formal wedding ceremony in France in June 2019. This event was attended by a star-studded guest list and featured all the traditional elements of a lavish wedding.
In 2020, the couple revealed that they were expecting their first child together. Sophie gave birth to their daughter, Willa, in July 2020. They kept most details of their pregnancy and early parenthood private.

Final Words

Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner have put their differences aside for now. Billboard got a copy of an interim consent order made on Monday, September 25. It says that the former couple has agreed to keep their two young daughters in New York City for the time being. The deal comes during a fight over who will take care of the child.
In the filing, it says that neither side can take their daughters out of the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, which include New York City and Long Island. Turner also said in her paperwork that before they broke up, they had agreed that England would be their "forever home."
