Black Mirror Season 6 - All You Need To Know About The New Black Mirror Season 6
It's been almost three years since Netflix added a new episode of Black Mirror. There has been no progress on a Black Mirror season 6 for years, but new reports say that Netflix is working on the sixth season. So far, here's what we know.
It feels like we've been living in a long Black Mirror episode for the past few years, especially since the COVID-19 pandemic.
During most of 2020 and 2021, we had to rely heavily on technology, social media, and video calls to stay in touch with people and keep our relationships going.
Cast: Anthony Mackie, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Nicole Beharie, Pom Klementieff, and Ludi Lin
Danny and Karl may travel inside a Mortal Kombat-like game using technology from Season 4's "U.S.S. Callister."
Abdul-Mateen likes Roxette and plays Lance (Lin) (Klementieff). When the game interferes with their real life, both within and outside the game unravel.
Disputes with IP owner Endemol Shine Group have stalled the series.
Annabel Jones and Charlie Brooker left Endemol Shine Group to form their own firm (with Netflix's financial backing and an overall production pact), and Black Mirror has been quiet since.
Netflix made a "landmark deal" with Brooker and Jones in July 2020 to buy controlling ownership in Broke & Bones.
They've developed Death to 2020 and 2021, Cat Burglar, and Attack of the Hollywood Cliches!
Since Bandersnatch was the first interactive special on Netflix, the creators of Black Mirror talked about whether they would do it again.
“„
In an interview with Yahoo, they said, “The thing is, if you’re doing an interactive episode, it needs to justify itself. There needs to be a compelling narrative reason as to why you’re using that otherwise, it is just a gimmick.”
We do know that there are no plans for a sequel to one of the most popular episodes, San Junipero.
Brooker has said that he wants to keep the two happy in their new home.
But in October 2016, it was said that ideas for sequels to White Bear and Be Right Back, which are two of the earlier episodes, had been discussed.
As part of the new deal we talked about above, Broke and Bones have hired Russell McLean, who will "focus on creating interactive projects" in the future.
Black Mirror was on BBC for its first two seasons.
When it moved to Netflix before season 3, it became one of Netflix's first big hits.
When Charlie Brooker made Black Mirror, he was influenced by Rod Serling's Twilight Zone, which told scary stories about how fast technology was changing and how dangerous it could be.
The show is so important to the culture that it has even predicted what will happen in the future.
In the episode "Hated in the Nation," the show warned against the "cancel culture."
In "The Entire History of You," it showed what happens when you record every part of your day, and in "Nosedive," it hinted that being addicted to social media can cause serious mental health problems.
Brooker said in the summer of 2020 that the events of the past few years made it hard to plan for future seasons.
“„
“At the moment, I don’t know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart, so I’m not working away on one of those,” Brooker said, per Rolling Stone. “I’m sort of keen to revisit my comic skill set, so I’ve been writing scripts aimed at making myself laugh.”
Black Mirror and Netflix Logo with shattered glass forming shocked face
Black Mirror's sixth season, which will be longer than the last, has reportedly already started casting.
There were only three episodes in Season 5.
Anthony Mackie and Yahya Abdul-Matteen II were in Striking Vipers, Andrew Scott and Topher Grace were in Smithereens, and Miley Cyrus was in Rachel, Jack, and Ashley Too.
There was also the movie Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, which was a choose-your-own-adventure movie.
During the next season, Brooker and his partner in making the show, Annabel Jones, will continue to broaden the show's scope and give the episodes "a more cinematic approach."
Like season 5, each one will be at least an hour-long and look like a movie.
Season 5 of Black Mirror was not the best nor the worst season of the program.
It was simply average. Even though each of its episodes was highly entertaining, at least two of the three episodes did not have the same "Black Mirror" vibe as the other episodes did.
This season of Black Mirror was lacking in its signature edge.
Tamsin's illness lasted for two months until she passed away, and although everyone pointed the finger at the drunk driver, Chris points the finger at himself.
In addition to Smithereen.
Both he and his late fiance were hooked to their phones and Smithereen at one point in their lives.
Given how much the world has become its own Black Mirror season, it's almost hard to notice that the popular Netflix show hasn't put out any new episodes since June 2019.
But now, Variety says that a Black Mirror season 6 of the hit anthology show is on the way.
